Pasquale signed for Latics from Scottish outfit Heart of Midlothian on a monthly contract on 9th February 1998. He made his Latics debut against Grimsby Town at Springfield Park on 14th February 1998 a game which the Blues lost 0-3. He was so demoralized at the end of the game that he told John Deehan that he would never play for the club again.
He told the manager that he had achieved many things in football and did not want to end his career at Springfield Park. True to his word, that was the only game he ever played for the club.
