Darren arrived at Springfield Park on 18th January 1991 on a trial basis from Stoke City. He made his Latics League debut the following day at Field Mill where the Blues recorded a 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town with Darren netting Latics’ winner. He was to play just one more game for Latics and that was the following League encounter against Reading at Elm Park.
He also scored Latics’ goal in that game as well which resulted in a 1-3 defeat. Darren goes down in history as the only player to score in every game that he played for the club! He returned to the Potteries and he was transferred to Exeter City a few months later.
He was last heard of working for the Stoke Council after spending ten seasons playing in five different league’s for Stafford Rangers!
