Rachid was new manager, Chris Hutching’s, eighth summer signing. He arrived at the JJB Stadium on 30th August 2007 from Sparta Rotterdam, his only other professional club, and signed a three-year contract. Latics are believed to have beaten FC Utrecht and Bolton Wanderers to his signature and he signed for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of 500,000 euros. He really struggled to get into the squad, but he finally made a competitive start on 26th August 2008 in a Carling Cup second round tie against Notts County at the JJB Stadium. He replaced Kevin Kilbane in the 70th minute of a game that Latics won 4-0.
He left the JJB Stadium on 1st September 2008 on a season long loan to NEC Nijmegen but after several discipline problems he returned to the JJB Stadium in April 2009. He was then loaned to Swedish outfit Helsingborgs on 31st March 2010 where he remained until the end of his Latics contract. He never played a League game for Latics.
