Chris, who was a former England youth international, was one of a trio of players signed by Ray Mathias from Blackburn Rovers for the start of season 1986/87. He made his Latics League debut on 30th August 1986 against Middlesbrough at Springfield Park, in a game that resulted in a 0-2 defeat. He was an important member of the team that reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup that season and he along with Paul Jewell formed a prolific partnership with Bobby Campbell. He spent two years at Springfield Park and he made 67+7 League appearances for the Blues and scored 12 League goals before joining neighbours Blackpool.

Chris sadly passed away, aged just 52 on 5th June 2012.
