Ian was signed by Kenny Swain from Burnley towards the end of the 1993/94 season. He made his Latics League debut on 19th April 1994 against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. The game in which he came on as a substitute for Neil Morton resulted in a 1-4 victory for the Railwaymen. He was to make just 2+2 League appearances without scoring before being released at the end of the season.
