Salomon was signed on 4th September 2007 on a free transfer as a replacement for the departed Leighton Baines. He had been released from French giants, Marseille at the end of the previous season and had had trials at Derby County before Chris Hutchings stepped in after a failed attempt to sign Argentina World Cup star Diego Placente. He initially took a little while to work up to full match fitness and made his Latics Premiership debut on 6th October 2007 against Manchester United at Old Trafford, which resulted in a 4-0 defeat.
He made only 2+6 Premiership appearances for the club before being transferred to Turkish side, Kayserispor, in April 2008.
