Andy was signed by Graham Barrow for a fee of £20,000 from Burnley in September 1994. He made his Latics League debut on 24th September 1994 against Scunthorpe United at the Glanford Stadium in a game which the Blues lost 1-3.
He stayed at Springfield Park for two seasons and he made 51+4 League appearances and scored 1 League goal for the club before joining Morecambe. Ironically, he played against Latics in their first ever game at the JJB Stadium, a friendly on the 4th August 1999 which resulted in a 0-0 draw.
His career ended in 2002 after a two year stint at Leigh RMI and a short stay at Radcliffe Borough where he played alongside ex Latics goalkeeper Dave Felgate.
