Simon arrived at Springfield Park for a fee of £7,500 from Preston North End in the summer of 1993. He made his Latics League debut on the opening day of the 1993/94 season, 14th August 1993 against Scunthorpe United at Springfield Park. The game resulted in a 0-2 defeat for Kenny Swain’s team. Simon spent three seasons between the sticks at Springfield Park during which time he made 126 League appearances.
He later became the first team physio before moving on to become heavily involved in Liverpool’s Schoolboy Academy.
Simon has been a member of the Wigan Athletic Grand Masters team.
