By the time the famous Liverpool ‘super sub’ arrived at Springfield Park it is pretty safe to comment that he had passed his ‘sell by’ date. He arrived at Springfield Park via Tranmere Rovers for the start of the 1990/91 season and made his Latics League debut in the opening day fixture, 25th August 1990, against Mansfield Town at Field Mill. The game ended in disappointment when the Blues returned home following a 0-2 defeat. David was to play just 4+3 League games for Latics scoring once against Grimsby Town in a 2-0 victory at Springfield Park in his penultimate game for the club before being released at the end of the season.
