Franco was signed by Roberto Martinez on 3oth August 2010 from Premier League rivals Chelsea. He signed a three year deal with the club and the deal was believed to be in excess of £1,000,000 rising to a further £2,000,000 depending on appearances, goals and performances. He made his Latics debut on 11th September 2010 in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the DW Stadium.
He went on to make 57 (35 Premiership appearances for Latics during which he netted thirteen times. He was in the famous Latics team that Beat Manchester City 1-0 in the club's historic FA Cup Final victory. Franco had also previously won the trophy with Chelsea four years previously.
