On 10th March 2006 manager Paul Jewell signed the Polish starlet on a three year deal that would commence in the summer of 2006. The 17 year old midfielder impressed during a weeks trial at Christopher Park and rather than run the risk of losing the Polish youth international he opted to sign him. He played his first game for Latics on 2nd August 2006 against Southport at Haig Avenue in a pre season fixture that Latics won 2-0.
His first taste of competitive action came on 20th September 2006 when Latics were beaten 2-0 by Crewe Alexandra in a Carling Cup, Second Round fixture at Gresty Road. On 31st October 2006 he was loaned to League One outfit Oldham Athletic in order to gain experience of playing at a competitive level of English football. In signing on at Boundary Park he teamed up with Latics legend Andy Liddell.
His next action for Latics came on 2nd January 2009 when he was a used substitute in a 3-1 defeat in a FA Cup third round game against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane and those were his only appearances for the club. He joined Derby County on loan in January 2010 and the move was made permanent on 26th May 2010.
