Born in Salford, Harry Williams signed for Manchester United after the war in May 1949. He was release by the red devils in January 1950 and signed for Witton Albion.
His goal scoring feats in the 1950-51 season, when he netted 54 goals for Witton, attracted the attention of West Ham United and they signed him in April 1951.
He made five appearances for the Hammers scoring once, but he did not settle in the South and returned North to sign for Latics.
He represented Latics 48 times (36 League) and scored 17 goals (11 league), before signing for Bury in June 1953.
