FRIENDLY
FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER vs WIGAN ATHLETIC
SINGLE GOAL DEFEAT FOR THE TIC-ETTES AGAINST HIGH CLASS OPPONENT.
With a host of games called off due to rain and frost the management team took the opportunity to schedule a friendly against higher level opposition and the team locked horns with F. C. United of Manchester in a ‘behind closed doors’ game at the Armitage Centre ground.
The game gave the coaching staff an opportunity to experiment with tactics and formations and gave the squad players a chance to get much needed minutes on the pitch.
The game was well contested and the hosts had to work hard in order to gain a narrow single goal victory.
The team now turn their attention to their League programme and a home tie against Tom Finney F. C. at Robin Park.
